Vandenberg Essay Contest 2016

The Eighth Annual Vandenberg Essay Contest Award Ceremony was held Thursday, May 19, 2016, at St. Mary School.
Winners pictured left to right: Jillian Romano, Grand Prize Winner and a student at St. Mary,  Aiden Parish,  a student from St. Mary, Kately Pawlak, a student from St. Mary and John Paul Culver, a student from Charlevoix Elementary School. In the back row, are the representatives who received monetary awards from the students which will be forwarded to the agency the student wrote about.
Fellow Kiwanian Sue Goss accepting on behalf of Pan-Can.  Jillian wrote a beautiful essay on how her grandfather, a former Kiwanian passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. Carole Brisson, a thirteen-year volunteer with the Charlevoix Area Humane Society received checks from both Aiden and Katley. She also received hand-made dog chew toys from River Pease who is a member of the Builders Club. Terry Edger, Kiwanis member and recipient of a check from John Paul which will aid Third World Countries the funds to help build bathroom facilities.
Members in the audience were teachers, students, non-profit members, parents, grandparents and Kiwanis members.  Good job to the committee who put this on.
